Responsibilities & Services

The position of Madison County Auditor is appointed by the State District Judges for a term of two years. The County Auditor is the Chief Financial Officer of Madison County, with numerous responsibilities mandated in the Texas State Statutes, which include:

  • Audits and processes accounting transactions for grants, payroll, and invoices
  • Examines the accounts of all county and district offices and reports the findings to the Commissioners Court
  • Keeping the general accounting records, and prepares financial reports
  • Prepares annual estimates of budget revenues
  • Prescribes systems for the receipt and disbursement of funds
  • Verifies compliance with purchasing laws
  • Madison County's financial reports are formal records of the financial activities of Madison County. In this section, you will find two types of financial reports: Monthly Financial Reports and Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports.
