Solid Waste Management
Madison County provides four precinct transfer stations for residents to drop their household garbage. A permit is required and may be purchased at the Madison County Tax Assessors Office, Room 130, in the Madison County Courthouse. Madison County works closely with Keep Madison County Beautiful and offers collection sites for recycling used motor oil, aluminum cans, metal, and other items at the transfer stations, as listed in the Solid Waste Disposal Rules above. Special Collections may be offered periodically through the year, such as recycling of computer and electronic equipment.
Illegal dumping continues to be a challenge for our County. Citizens may report illegal dumping by completing and returning the Illegal Dumping Form available on this site. All on-site sewage system (septic system) complaints are handled through the WastewaterOffice.
